Linux is a free and open source operating system that is compatible with many computers, fast, easy, and doesn’t get viruses like Windows will.

It’s an emerald theme. I too would like to know what one. But it can be used on any DE that is running compiz. Be it gnome, kde, or whatever.

I used on this video a beryl setup. Beryl has been merged into compiz-fusion which i use now.
There are lots of wikis related to gentoo. also for compiz fusion. just search for gentoo wiki compiz-fusion.

I’ve had a setup like this in ubuntu and gnome before with compiz. I’m running gentoo and kde on one of my machines, but am not sure how to configure a setup similar to whats on your video demo. How in the world did you do that with gentoo and kde? Do you have a tutorial on how to do that? If not, are there any links you could suggest? It looks like your using compiz, right?

Gentoo comes with a plethora of utilities which make customization of the operating system much easier. The entire operating system is fitted to your needs, and much like a suit, it will perform better because of it. Gentoo is built ground-up by user preferences. Many system files have shorthand commands to access and/or update them. It also has a BSD-style port system.

In the right hands it can be MUCH faster and better than ubuntu.

In the wrong hands it will crash and burn, very easily.

    Gentoo – For advanced users
    Ubuntu – For basic users

if i understand correctly ubuntu is easier to use but gentoo is more customizable because gentoo comes with basically nothing and you have to build it yourself but ubuntu comes with a bunch of features you may or may not want my friend uses gentoo and he had to do a bunch of crap to get his graphics card installed he still hasn’t provided his cd drive with admin rights yet and its a real hassle but on the other hand his comp uses alot less resources then mine so yea it depends on how you see it

    Search for “gentoo vs ubuntu”

It’s not easy to answer this question, cause there are different points of view.

Fazzy, can you tell me how I can install my video card? I have no idea why it won’t let me. Linux doesn’t even recognize my video card. It says that my system is not 3D compatible XD. I have 2 SLI 8600GT’s
