Science Engineer- Retail Science (DT0180) (san mateo)

The Science Software Engineer will work with statisticians, scientists and other engineers to implement econometric models and other science features for use in our Software as a Service (SAAS) applications. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in software development, and the ability to produce high quality, object-oriented code. Candidates must be detailed oriented, organized and able to handle multiple and shifting priorities. He or she must be able to work well with others with minimum supervision in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Required Skill Set:

3-5 years of software development experience

Expert Java coding and debugging skills

Expert in scripting languages like Perl and Bash

Expert in stored procedures and proficiency in SQL coding

Good programming practices with solid object-oriented development experience

Good understanding of concepts in statistics, optimization, economics, and data mining

Experience with handling large data volumes

Strong analytical and problem solving skills (Must be able to analyze and suggest improvements to existing code and designs)

Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating environments

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree and/or Masters in Computer Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent work experience

Desired Skill Set

Data mining experience is a plus

Experience in verticals like supply chain, ad optimization, or pricing optimization

Unix administration experience
