Software Build and Release Engineer (santa clara)

Position: Build & Release Engineer

Location: Santaclara, CA

We are looking for ONE Senior level software Release engineer and TWO junior build engineers to support engineering groups in software build and release activities. This is a contract opportunity.

Job Role & Responsibilities

Develops and maintains the build environment, the source code version control system and the bug tracking systems. Creates and sanity check builds, resolves issues, applies labels to file and communicates build status. Responsible for building scripts, installation procedures. Maintain current Release Management tools, documents, and reports. Proactively identifies and implements procedures to streamline the build process which may drive the development and maintenance of an automated build process with automatic notification of build and unit test failure problems to responsible engineers. May assist engineering management in making choices for source code management systems, and other development and testing tools.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2-5+ years experience in build and release engineering with a background in systems administration or software development in a Linux environment.

• Proficiency in Perl /shell scripting and LAMP skills

• Experience building C/C++ or java based products with Gnu Make/Ant or Maven.

• Knowledge of SDLC, software configuration management, continuous integration, build optimization, build automation, and deployment.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Good verbal and written communication skills required.

Preferred Job Experience

• Working in a continuous integration environment with Cruisecontrol or Hudson or any other CI tools.

• Releasing software into large scale environment preferably on a SaaS Platform

• Administrative experience in atleast one revision control system CVS, Subversion, Perforce, Clearcase.

• Prior experience with Release planning or management

• Java development experience in a Weblogic/Websphere environment a major plus.

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMWare is desired.

• Knowledge of one or more of industry standards SOX compliance, CMMI, ISO, Six Sigma.
